About The Stroller Girl

Welcome to The Stroller Girl! I am a mother to six gorgeous children, aged from 8 to 8 months. I am also a USMC wife, a total bookworm and must eat chocolate every day.

About 5 years ago, when I was pregnant with my fourth child, I well and truly caught the Stroller Bug. Since then, I have owned over 40 strollers, most more than once. Some I have kept for years, some for only a few days. Some have been for teeny tiny newborns, some for 3 year olds. All have taught me about whats needed, whats not and how to find the best stroller for the best price.

If you have any questions you would like me to try and help with, or any stories or reviews you want to share, please email at thestrollergirl@gmail.com and I’ll do my best!

  1. Hi SG!
I stumbled onto your website last night and am totally addicted! I’m obsessed with prams and thought I was the only one out there just like me ;) .

We have two children and are the proud, loving owners of a bugaboo frog still in perfect condition due to my OCD nature with immaculate prams…..I pimped it up with Chameleon covers in off white and it looks fabulous due to the black base.

when our second came along we did need a double as our 3 year old is tiny and finds it hard to keep up all day as we live inner city Sydney and public transport everywhere. we bought a Baby Jogger City Select which I hated pretty much from the minute I started using it! Heavy, clunkingg. cheap fabric thing it was. Luckily I sold it on Ebay 4 months later for $50 less than what I paid due to a good ad. We bought a double stroller which I had never considered before after trying the Bugaboo Donkey. I just couldnt justify the excess of another top line pram and it just doesnt compare to the frog (of course its a double but you knnow) so instead I purcahsed a Silver Cross Duo Pop and LOVE IT! I even use it more than the frog these days its gorgeous looking, so English and proper, handles so well in the city its just the best. Anyway thought you might like to know as I dont see them around much which is a shame they are brilliant.

Congrats on an awesome blog, wordpress is just the best. I’ve got a little blog in case your are interested in some light reading.
    Cheers

  3. Hi there:
My wife and I love your website and enjoy reading and seeing these nice stollers! You know, we are going to agree with you in not understanding the Uppababy Vista hype. We love the smoothness, but oh that fold! For the money spent it should come with a remote for auto folding (just a guy’s POV). Plus they’re pretty heavy – which I don’t mind, but I know my wife does.
We kind of like the Britax B-Ready as the material (to us) feels better and the seat looks comfier, but we’re not digging the wide back wheels and plastic covers, along with yet another not-so-easy fold. It feels like we need to compromise the things we want in order to get a stroller.
Have you tried the I’Coo strollers by any chance? We’re looking at a Targo online but can’t find one in a store to play with. The videos show a much easier fold which I know will be a big plus. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated – keep up the good work!

  4. I laughed out loud and LOVED your comment about folding the UppaBaby Vista! I have one and have literally had to step away because i either couldn’t get it out of my car OR unfold. Folding is actually the easier part – big key: make sure the wheels are locked AND the seat strap is folded in on the seat (that’s gotten caught and I was stuck at my trunk for a good 10 – 15 mins.). I also completely agree about the back wheels in stores but do love the turning and taking long walks. I would NEVER spend as much money as I – um, my husband – did but I do really like it overall. You should know, regarding the damages you had, the company will send you replacement parts. I have found them to be very helpful after being extremely disappointed with a plastic piece poking through the umbrella/cover part. (I’m obviously a new mom)
Your blog is GREAT!!! Keep up the good work!

  5. Hi Stroller Girl

I have a question about the Orbital sidekick board. We are expecting twins in 4 months, as well as close friends of ours. We both happen to already have little girls, ours is 4 yrs. and theirs 2 yrs. We love the sidekick board for our daughter to use but can’t find any place online saying the kit will work with the new Helix. What have you heard? Right now i am not liking how the helix has to be broken apart to be put away. Also, does any of the other brand have a similar board?

Thanks. I am loving your blog. You have peaked my interest with the mountain buggy. I wish there was a tandem stroller that could hold the peg pergo infant car seat. Not a big fan of sittig my baby in a stroller, prefer to keep them in a car seat.

    • Hi. The helix will NOT work with the running board, because it connects in the exact same way. So unfortunately they cannot possibly be used together.

The Baby Jogger city Select can take two PP car seats. And has a running board option for your 4 year old. :)

  6. Hi there! Love the blog :) I’m a second time mom-to-be, with a 14 year old already. So, it’s been awhile since I’ve been stroller shopping.. and to say that I’m obsessing (dwelling, freaking out, etc) over it might be an understatement. I would love some of your opinions! Here are the few that *I think* are in the top of the runnings.
    Mama’s and Papa’s Sola
    Uppababy Cruz
Orbit Baby (because – did you see how neat this one is?!!?)
My fear is that I’m getting too caught up in the WHOA! factor in some of these to really figure out what features I need and don’t need! When I had my son, we had the huge travel system that made me sweat and swear every time I busted it out. Pretty much, that’s what I’m trying to avoid. Also, the new baby is due in December and I live in a very cold climate, so I’m not sure if the bassinet in, say, the Vista, would be necessary.
That being said, I am completely open to whatever other suggestions you may have! My budget would preferrably be below the $700 range, however that is not set in stone.
I look forward to hearing from you!! Thanks :)

  7. I’m on the hunt for a double jogger that will fit a really tall almost 3 year old, and a 6 month old. I want it to recline independently, have awesome sunshades, and FIT MY TODDLER. I recently have owned a double Maclaren, schwinn jogger, twin combi, among other strollers and they have not met my expectations. My toddler is really tall (think 4 year old). Any suggestions?

  8. Come across your blog before but only today read through some of it. My lord I feel we are kindred spirits! My husband thinks I’m nutzo with my stroller obsession but I can’t help it and I know this is a love that will not fizzle! I can see myself owning many more strollers! One can’t do it all! Why doesn’t anyone else get this? Also, Kristen, I don’t know if you’ll see this but I also love the Mamas and Papas Sola and just saw it in person! Its great, high off the ground and beautiful colors. Just one thing, the store owner seemed to have a hard time folding it and its one of their stroller out fronts so I think she does it often. However, if you shop around and try and get a discount, the Bugaboo Bee is amazing! Similar to the Sola, a bit lower to the ground but truly grows with baby and you should find a video on the fold. It will amaze you. Well, I’ll be sure to check back on here. Luck to all you mommies!

  9. I’m the mother of 4 age ranging for
26-3weeks. I like the origami 4 moms but I need to attach a broad for my 3 year old to ride with the 3 week old. Is that possible? Love the power fold feature.

    • I’m sorry, I dont know the best answer to that. Best thing to do is contact the manufacturer and ask them. For strollers with odd shaped rear chassis’s it can be hard. Also, the 3 week old cant ride in the origami seat because it doesnt recline, so make sure you buy the bassinet option as well. :)

  10. Hello! What are your thoughts on a triple umbrella stroller? i have a double umbrella that i love but would like a third seat. Also, where can I get a triple umbrella stroller? I see pictures of them but can’t figure out where to buy one. I have a 4 year old, twin 2 1/2 year olds, and ten month old. I figured the 4 year old could walk most of the time while I push the other three. Thanks!

  11. Im a single mom, i dont have a car. I have no need for it really. But sometimes i wish i had a stroller and car seat all in one! I seem to find ugly ones lol. Can you find some girly ones?

  12. What’s your feelings on the Phil & Ted dot? I’m finding the parcel try is too low and things fall out, also the handle bar doesn’t extend so I kick my baby in the head when its lying flat. Also when it folds it hits the ground and the handle bar is made from soft rubber so its starting to rip off. Its nice to push but I feel it could be a lot better, would be interested to see what you thought!

  13. Hi, just found your website in my search for a decent rear facing jogging stroller. We got a bumbleride Indie on the advice of a friend when your baby was born but now that he’s 6 months and doesn’t need the carseat insert anymore I want to take him out and see him at the same time. Any advice on a rear facing jogger? and whether it’s worth it to keep the bumbleride for some potential future use? We aren’t really an off-road stroller family.
